Supporting Teacher Development at Wilderness School

At Wilderness School, we are committed to cultivating a community of professional practice that encourages a growth mindset and supports teachers in continuously reflecting on, questioning, and refining their practice.

From the Early Learning Centre through to Year 12, our educators embody the Wilderness values, providing passionate and dedicated guidance that in turn enables our girls to be the best they can be.

We believe that to truly empower each girl to reach her fullest potential, we must also invest in the growth and wellbeing of our staff. As Director of Leadership and Human Potential, Heather De Blasio, notes, “Supporting our staff to be the best they can be is fundamental. From leadership development programs for aspiring leaders to holistic wellbeing initiatives, we nurture the whole person, both professionally and personally.”

We are proud to offer the Catherine Ye Fellowship, which allows teachers to undertake research and study projects alongside global experts. This fellowship enhances their capacity to apply deep pedagogical and disciplinary knowledge in innovative and flexible ways, to design future-focused programs with impact.

This is just one of the many ways we build a growth mindset culture, ensuring that our girls receive an education that not only supports their academic achievement but prepares them to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Together, we build a culture where professional growth is privileged, empowering our educators to consciously enhance their practice and contribute to the ongoing success of our school community.
