On Wednesday the 4th of September, the Annual Showcase was held at the Adelaide Town Hall. This year’s theme was, 140 Years in Harmony, honouring the rich history of Wilderness Music Department. The evening brought together an incredible program of music, as well as showcasing musicians from across generations, including the debut performance of the Old Scholars Big Band, which featured Year 12 students, past graduates, and staff.

The evening was divided into two halves. The first half showcased Wilderness’ band and string ensembles, spanning from the junior school to year 12, and concluded with a triumphant finale of Stevie Wonder’s Isn’t She Lovely. The stage overflowed with students, teachers and old scholars, all performing together in a harmonious first half finale. The second half highlighted the sensational choirs, celebrating their remarkable achievements throughout the year. A compilation of photographs and video footage offered a glimpse into the lasting influence of the Wilderness School Music Department over the past 140 years. The culmination of the evening was the extraordinary choral finale, Blessed and Happy, capping off an incredible evening.

It was a truly memorable concert that left the audience inspired and proud of Wilderness’ ongoing musical legacy.
