First Term Begins
As 2021 draws to a close, we are shifting our focus to Sport and Recreation at Wilderness in 2022.
We will be sending out our nomination email to parents/caregivers and girls in the first week of the school holidays to select their sport preferences for 2022. The email will contain detailed information on how to select their sports and information to assist with making selections.
We are pleased to be able to offer Year 1 and 2 after school sport options in 2022. We will also be introducing a recreational option for interschool for our Middle and Senior School girls and a lunchtime recreational activity offering every second week.
Wilderness is in the process of recruiting a Netball, Tennis and Lacrosse Coordinator to help streamline and develop these sports across the School, and we look forward to seeing this additional investment to give our girls the best experience possible.
Perhaps the most exciting news is the recent announcements of the school Masterplan, which includes a Gymnasium Annex that will create additional opportunities for Sport and Recreation for our girls. We look forward to this commencing next year.
While we are strongly focused on the year ahead, we aren’t losing sight of our girls' current activities.
Wilderness Rowing club competed in the first of four Schools Premiership Series (SPS) Regattas on Saturday boating a spectacular 18 crews.
There were many successes across the age groups for the first real test of the season; however a big congratulations must go to our Year 7 and Year 8 crews for a dominating performance to win the most points in their respective age groups.
The rowers finished the day on the Premiership table in 2nd place, 8 points behind 1st, a position they haven’t seen themselves in for almost 10 years.
Competing with 12 other rival girl schools, this reflects the shed’s strength and success.
We wish them the best of luck as they travel to Renmark to compete in the Riverland Regatta this weekend, and hope to see them retain their position on the Premiership ladder as the crews find more speed with their holiday training and January camp.
Finally, we would like to take the opportunity to sincerely thank all our staff, supervisors, umpires, coaches and volunteers for their incredible support and input in 2021. And of course, we would like to thank our parents/caregivers and girls for their contributions to the Wilderness Sport and Recreation Program in 2021.
We wish all our community a restful break and look forward to seeing your return in 2022
