Middle School SRC Badge Assembly

Congratulations to the Middle School SRC who received their leadership badges at the first Middle School Assembly of the year. The girls have met with their staff mentors and have a number of goals and initiatives they are planning for the year.

Year 7 Camp Preparations

This week the Year 7s had some sessions on Memorial Lawn to practise putting up their tents in preparation for their upcoming camp. Students in Amaryllis, Antholiza and Carob will attend camp in Week 5, while the Cedar and Sparaxis girls will attend in Week 6. The girls will enjoy several activities while based at Crawford, including sailing, kayaking and surfing.

JamFactory

The Year 9 product design classes have visited the JamFactory twice over the last two weeks. In their first session, the girls constructed clay plates and bowls and used the pottery wheels to make pots. On their return visit, the girls glazed their creations and enjoyed a guided tour of JamFactory's facilities.

Year 7 Science

Our Year 7 Science students enjoyed working out how old technology works, what it was used for and what has replaced it. From cameras to cassette tapes, the pictures below might bring back a few memories for our parents.

Shine Parent Information Sessions

Naomi from Shine SA recently presented parent workshops to Year 7 and 9 parents. We will have a session for Year 8 parents later in the term. If you could not attend but would like the materials supplied, including a list of suggested websites, please email the Middle School Office.

SUBS in Schools Marketing Session

Year 9 SUBS in Schools students had the opportunity to listen to Meriel Killeen and Jason Kemp from SOCIETY Marketing Communications. The girls had the opportunity to hear from experts in the industry to guide their learning and assist with their SUBS in Schools journey, where the girls will need to reach out to sponsors, create and design a brand. The girls received valuable advice and guidance about how to choose a brand name, narrative and design, and how to pitch to sponsors with their brands.
Students also participated in a simulated activity where they would create a brand for an object by choosing a name and logo and creating a brand narrative. This was a valuable experience for the girls which will allow them to achieve their best in the SUBS in Schools State Competition. On behalf of the Year 9 SUBS in Schools group, we thank Meriel and Jason and the team at SOCIETY Marketing for their time and valuable knowledge and experience they shared with the girls. - Elena Reu (Year 9)
