A heartfelt welcome to the families joining us for the first time in 2024 and to all those returning! I hope that the summer break has been enriching and restful for your daughters.
This is a very special year as we are celebrating the 140th anniversary of Wilderness School—140 years of fulfilling the Brown Sisters’ vision of educating globally-minded, adventurous, courageous, respectful and kind girls.
We began preparing for this milestone last year, and we look forward to sharing celebration plans, including opportunities to connect via social media and through events. Mark your calendars for our 140th Gala Dinner, which will take place on Saturday 14 September.
This milestone year begins with the opening of our much-anticipated Early Learning Centre at 16 Hawkers Road. Next week, our Mamies and Annies will begin their Wilderness journey in this remarkable centre, which has been thoughtfully considered to help our littlest learners thrive. With an abundance of natural light and soft colours, blending heritage features and fresh modern design, the entirely unique and beautiful new spaces will nurture creativity, collaboration, curiosity and joy.
I am especially excited to welcome our Early Learning girls and their families on-site for a very special Housewarming event next month.
The opening of the Early Learning Centre marks the completion of Stage 1 of our Masterplan, and we are pleased to confirm that Stage 2 has commenced. We have put great care into planning to ensure a continuity of exceptional learning for all our girls throughout these transformative works and look forward to welcoming you to campus.
You will find important reminders to help you get ready for term throughout this newsletter; please make sure not to miss the articles from your daughter’s Head of School.
On Monday 29 January, we look forward to welcoming our Year 7 students and new students in Years 8 to 12 for their orientation morning. This will be an opportunity for girls to meet key staff members (like their Heads of House and Form teachers) along with their buddies, so that they feel ready to approach the school year.
Enjoy the long weekend, and we look forward to seeing all girls on Tuesday 30 January, ready to begin the 140th year of learning at Wilderness School.
