      University of Tasmania (UTAS)
In May I was one of two South Australian careers advisors, along with 20 other interstate advisors, invited to undertake professional development at the University of Tasmania. We toured facilities in Hobart, including the beautiful Hedberg Academy and the Australian Maritime College in Launceston. UTAS offers a wide range of programs including science, agriculture, engineering, music, performing arts, architecture and design, law and economics, and medicine and health. A sustainability major can be studied as any bachelor’s degree.  UTAS ranks #1 in climate action globally.

UTAS students appreciate the island setting, which offers strong connections to industry leaders, nature and adventure. The relaxed atmosphere of Tasmania contrasts with the hustle and bustle of big cities, making it an ideal study environment.

Generous relocation and accommodation bursaries and scholarships are available to encourage students interested in studying at UTAS.

One student we heard from was ‘Laura’, hailing from the Barossa Valley who sought to pursue something different from her peers. With prior experience in transport logistics from working with her family, she opted for the Bachelor of Global Logistics and Maritime Management. Laura is enjoying the degree, which she hopes will provide her with the opportunity to work internationally after graduation.
