During last week's family meeting, we heard speeches from Safara Moyse, Charlotte Linke and Jessica Schultz who have nominated to be the Co-Captains of Boarding for 2022. I commend the girls on the quality of their speeches and the courage and vulnerability they demonstrated. There was lots of positive encouragement from all of the girls.

The voting was held online on Tuesday, and Safara Moyse and Jessica Schultz were elected as our new co-captains for next year. Congratulations girls.

My congratulations also go to Eliza Corbin, who was elected as the SRC Secretary for 2022, Victoria Lane and Mollie Rowntree who were elected as House Captains, and Sachi Syme who was elected as Sports Captain.

Introducing Our New Housemother

It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to our Housemother, Christine Hill. The Housemother is a new and exciting position that will become an integral part of our boarding family.

With over 30 years of experience as a registered nurse, Chris brings a wealth of leadership, knowledge and warmth to the role, which will foster a sense of mentorship, friendship, and community in our Boarding House.

With a kind, caring, encouraging, and welcoming approach, Chris aims to continue our tradition of creating a ‘home away from home’ for our boarding girls.

Chris stepped into the Housemother role on Monday and is looking forward to getting to know the girls and becoming a trusted confidant.

Mentor groups

The Boarding House has been busy with many mentor activities organised. Each staff mentor leader chose an activity, but the main purpose was to bring the girls together across the different year levels to build and strengthen relationships within the House. Activities included art therapy, blind taste testing and making Rocky Road.

CirKidz

The Year 11 PE class is dominated by boarders and the girls enjoyed a special visit to CirKidz during the week as part of their PE program.

Random Act of Kindness Week

The student leaders introduced a Random Act of Kindness (RAK) Week during the week starting Monday 9 August. Each boarder was randomly allocated another girl and set the challenge to ensure they carried out random acts of kindness for her throughout the week.

As we are focusing on building positive emotions and wellbeing, this was a great activity across the House. According to clinical psychologist Joe Oliver, being kind to other people is also beneficial to our own wellbeing, mental health and relationships.

The girls will reveal themselves to each other as they give their RAK partner a small gift.
