On Tuesday 27 September, we were delighted to welcome in two outstanding educators from Nature Play SA for a ‘Natural Elements’ incursion. The girls were fortunate to have the opportunity to connect with nature, and to explore and create with natural materials and loose parts. They listened to stories, created with clay and sticks, explored loose parts and playdough, used beautiful gems and built cubby houses together—all whilst out in nature. As adults, we worried about the light rain, but for the girls, this only enhanced the fun of it all!
The value of connecting to nature for children is widely shared in the media, but it only takes five minutes of observing during experiences such as these to see how much joy it brings. The joy alone makes this learning activity worthwhile, but it provided so much more—opportunities to be creative, develop STEM thinking dispositions, be collaborative, connect with nature and so much more! We are thankful for this experience and to the families who brought their daughters in especially for the morning.
We wish you a wonderful, safe, happy and healthy holiday and look forward to seeing you for the final term of 2022.
