REALISE Core Group 3

Tomorrow, the Year 9 girls who have been down at Crawford for the past three weeks will showcase their experience for their parents before making the journey home for a well-deserved holiday. The girls particularly enjoyed caving at the Naracoorte Caves and having a guided tour through the Victoria Fossil Cave.

Thank you to Ms Lauren Walker for her creativity and for rearranging the activities around some challenging weather and an unexpected public holiday. Thank you also to Ms Rosie Smith, Ms Emily Duck, Ms Claire Aunger, Ms Stephanie Andrews, Dr. Sally Nobbs, Ms Sarah Wheeler and Ms Tansy Chen, who shared this experience with the girls.

Australian Mathematics Competition

In Week 2 of this term, 75 Middle and Senior School students participated in the Australian Maths Competition. The AMC, run by the Australian Maths Trust, is a competition that demonstrates the importance and relevance of mathematics in students’ everyday lives.

The challenging problems required students to think critically and creatively as they applied their mathematical knowledge to a wide variety of situations. We are so proud of each student’s involvement and their demonstration of adventurous learning. Well done to Canyu (Alice) Jia (Year 12) and Emily Nguyen (Year 9), who were awarded High Distinctions. Students will receive their certificates of achievement next term.

Year 8 Wellbeing Day and Camp

This week, Year 8 Core Groups 1 and 2 were able to enjoy their Wellbeing Day run by the team from yLead as we welcomed Core Groups 3 and 4 back from camp. We hope that all girls enjoyed the fun-filled end to the term.

Thank you again to Ms Kate Mitchell and the Outdoor Education Instructors for all their preparations for camp. Thank you to Ms Billie Newton, Ms Maria Criaris, Ms Elyse Purkis, Ms Elisa Stracci, Mr Mathew D’Aloisio and Ms Bella Drioli-Phillips for attending to support the wellbeing of the girls on camp.

Year 9 Carob Duke of Ed Service Project

This term Year 9 Carob raised money to make Carer Packages for National Foster Care Week as part of their Service component for their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. Some of these packages went to the Anglicare Beach House Event on the Friday which some of our year 10 Silver Duke of Ed girls attended to support the families and children. The other packages went to the families that attended the Fun in the Wilderness program on Tuesday afternoons with the Gold Duke of Ed girls. A big thanks to Cassie Pope and the girls for their efforts.
