This week the Art Committee began running their first initiative for the year. Participating Year 9 students have spent some of their time this week making ceramic doves as part of a social media initiative started by ceramicist Ilona Glastonbury from the Barossa Valley - connected to the hashtag #dovesforukraine.
The doves are made from Bennett’s stoneware clay and will be fired, glazed and hung on neutral coloured cord. To wear on your body or to be hung in your home, the Art Committee invites you to pre-order the doves for $5 each using this Trybooking link.
All money raised will be donated to Save the Children Australia who are contributing to helping those in need in Ukraine.
Doves will be delivered to Form rooms during Weeks 10 and 11 this term.
Showcasing Student Work
Earlier this term the Year 9 Inspire: Creative Product Design students collaborated with the JamFactory to develop their understanding of the Arts industry.
They learnt the fundamental skills needed to make vessels on the pottery wheel and flatware using slab construction and mould forming.
They experimented with finishing their works by glazing them and the results have been incredibly beautiful.
