It was with much excitement and anticipation that we were able to farewell the first group on their REALISE experience on Monday.
Despite the delayed departure of this group, Ms Lauren Walker and her team of Outdoor Educators, have been able to reimagine parts of the program so that the girls will not miss a single thing.
We all wish them the absolute best for their Crawford experience and look forward to hearing all their stories over the Easter Holidays.
Phone-free Solution
The Year 7s welcomed a representative from the team at Yondr, to discuss how their product can help create a phone-free space. Students can limit their own use of mobile phones by using their pouch and the magnets on the School gates and Middle School Office. Girls are encouraged to pop their phone inside the pouch on the way into school and remove it on the way out.
In a modern world, we are reliant on our devices for connecting with friends and family but also for learning and collaborating. Being able to self-regulate your use of technology can be difficult for adults and having tools like the Yondr pouch are important as young people negotiate the responsible use of their phone.
Congratulations
I extend my congratulations to our new principal, Mrs Belinda Arnfield. Belinda’s first year as Head of Middle School was my first year of teaching at Wilderness and we have worked closely over those years.
She has the deepest understanding of our values and history. In what has been a most challenging year, Belinda has provided confidence to the Wilderness community and has shown good courage in the hour of strife.
I look forward to working with Belinda for many years to come.
