First Day of Term 3
On Tuesday 30 May, our Year 9/10 Touch Football team travelled to the City Touch Fields to compete in the School Sport SA Statewide Schools Finals Day. After finishing top of their pool in the minor rounds, they were buoyed by confidence heading into the day. The finals day consisted of four fixtures against Sacred Heart College, Pembroke School, St Peter’s Girls School and Grant High School.
First up came a win against Pembroke, followed by a hard-fought draw with St Peter’s Girls. The girls then proved too strong for Grant High School with a convincing win. The last fixture of the day saw them face off against the only other undefeated team in Sacred Heart College; in what was a wet and windy affair, the girls started strongly and led 4-1 at the half time break. The second half saw some more composure and great play with the result being a 6-1 win to Wilderness.
This saw our 9/10 Touch Football team crowned State Champions—a fantastic result that caps off a double victory with the Open Touch Football team from earlier in the term. Well done to all the girls and a special thanks to Touch Football Coordinator and Year 9/10 Coach, Ms Marnie Eddington.
