Ever since they learned about the new Early Learning Centre which is being built over the fence, the girls in the Mamie House are abuzz with excitement.
Our littlest learners have been intrigued and amazed at the building work taking place, peeking through the fence and identifying new sounds. They were lucky enough to have a special tour of the construction site, thanks to SARAH Constructions, where they were able to experience being site workers—complete with their safety vests, helmets and goggles!
“The digger is making a big and bigger hole… then there will be a new house…” - Amelia
“We need a new Mamie House.” - Emma
“I saw a digger building a new playground… maybe the digger will build us a new playground!” - Grace
“I think it was digging a big hole for the Mamie House… I think it will be for me.” - Halo
Our inquisitive Mamie girls were full of questions and ideas. How many chimneys were there, and which one would Santa use? Would it be possible to put a trampoline inside? Could they bring their own diggers from the sandpit to help out with the renovation? After all, they have spent a lot of time playing as builders in recent weeks.
The SARAH team observed how the girls already showed key characteristics of great building site supervisors. As they were guided through 16 Hawkers Road, the girls were excited to share about all the amazing things they want to be when they grow up—a doctor, a police officer, an animal trainer, a race car driver and even a tooth fairy!
For these girls, the learning and dreaming has already begun.
