IGSSA (Independent Girls School Sport Association) Sport Reconciliation Rounds

During Weeks 6 and 7 our sporting teams commemorated Reconciliation Round. Teams participated in numerous initiatives across the two weeks, including the Open A Football team who wore guernseys designed by Year 12 student Myarn Alden and had a pre-match smoking ceremony led by elder Karrl Tamaru Smith.

Lacrosse Judy Thurgood Cup

On Wednesday 7 June, our Open Lacrosse team travelled to the Sturt Lacrosse Club for an exhibition match against St Peter’s Girls, to play for the Judy Thurgood Cup. It was the first time the fixture had been played since 2019, and the match was contested as part of the State Championships. Coached by Ms Rebecca Keller, the game was an exciting spectacle with back and forth goals and good defensive play. Unfortunately, the game had to be halted two minutes into the last quarter due to severe weather and St Peter’s Girls took home the cup with a scoreline of 10-5. We look forward to continuing this traditional fixture into the future.

School Sport SA Cross Country

A team of 20 girls from Wilderness travelled to Oakbank Racecourse for the School Sport SA Cross Country Championships. In wet and wintry conditions, the girls raced superbly with 13 of our runners finishing in the top 40, further highlighted by an U14 Team Bronze Medal, an U16 Team Silver Medal and an Individual Silver Medal to Sasha Hardin (Year 11) in the Open Category.
