First Day of Term 4
Father's Day Breakfast
On Tuesday 5 September, we were delighted to host our annual Father’s Day Breakfast. There was a relaxed, happy atmosphere at the breakfast and clearly so much love and pride in the eyes of the attendees. The girls presented their dads with beautiful, thoughtful handmade gifts and then treated them to breakfast outside. These events help to create a connected Wilderness community, something to be treasured and continued. It was also, of course, an end of an era, as this was the very last breakfast that we will hold in our current Mamie and Annie Houses.
Events such as these cannot go ahead without our incredible team of educators going above and beyond to make it happen. The gifts were carefully planned, created and organised, and I am so thankful to all the staff (including Maintenance and Catering) who all arrived incredibly early to host this special event.
Early Childhood Educators’ Day
Following the breakfast, we spent the very next day, Wednesday 6 September, expressing gratitude for our educators on Early Childhood Educators’ Day. The kind words that were shared with our teams were incredible and so much appreciated. On this day – and every day – we are thankful for the exceptional partnerships we have with you, our families, as the strength of these benefits the girls enormously.
RU Okay Day
RU Okay Day on Thursday 14 September was an excellent reminder for all of us to look out for each other. Parenting is a wonderful journey, but certainly not something that is always easy. Whilst I am quite confident that I am not an experienced enough parent yet to be able to impart wisdom, I will always say yes to a coffee if you would like to chat. I can also help to point you in the right direction for any support you need. Our café team makes great coffee, so please do not hesitate to contact me if you this is something that appeals to you.
Artwork in the Mamie House
Inspired by the work of Frida Kahlo, with incredible guidance and inspiration from the educational team, the Mamie House girls have created an exceptional piece of artwork. They have collaborated to create a piece that has multiple layers and depth, and, quite truly, would rival any piece in a gallery. They intend on entering their artwork in the Walkerville Art Show and we are immensely proud of their achievement. This learning has really brought together the strands of many projects, especially our ‘Wonder of Me’ and earlier artistic collaborations, and we hope it will inspire several more in the future.
Transitions
They say that time flies when you are having fun and this is absolutely true for our Annie House girls, who are already starting to prepare for their transition into Reception, which has come around very quickly. Miss Danielle Moir and the team are always asking the question about what is the best way to prepare our girls for Reception, whilst also retaining all that is special and perfect about this moment in the girls’ early childhood education. One way Miss Danielle has decided to prepare the girls is by establishing a partnership with the Reception teachers and beginning informal transitions that are focused on connecting the girls with an older friend, who will be important when the girls move into this next phase of learning. Most of all, Miss Danielle says that there really is nothing more comforting than a familiar face in an unfamiliar environment and she hopes to provide this for her girls for next year.
Finally, we would like to thank you for an exceptional term. You have made it! Well done for preparing your daughters beautifully for Book Week, Father’s Day, school photos and casual clothes days—that took a lot of planning, and you were all very successful!
We look forward to sending out dates and times soon for the important Term 4 events. We wish you all a safe and happy holiday next week.
