Our Mamie and Annie girls have had a wonderful start to the year, with a focus on developing a deep sense of belonging within and to their new learning spaces. While this occurs naturally through the many interactions that the girls have each day with both the space, their friends and teachers, a highly intentional way that our teaching teams ensure that this is an entitlement for all girls is through our ‘Wonder of Me’ project.

Using a hand-held mirror, the girls are invited to look closely at their faces, considering the uniqueness of their individual features. The educator waits patiently, listening, responding to the child’s ideas and only occasionally asking questions. With the use of a black marker, the girls represent this intimate interpretation of what they see and who they know themselves to be.
