The Mamie girls have been thoroughly enjoying caring for their new baby chicks.
It was a very exciting time welcoming three little chicks and several eggs to their new home in the Mamie House, but that did not compare to the joy the girls have since experienced as they have watched the chicks hatch and learned to care for them.
With amazement, the girls have watched the chicks grow and witnessed their feathery friends building their strength and confidence every day. The girls too, continue to amaze us as they share their questions, ideas and wonderings about our chicks.
Mamie House meetings have held some particularly engaging conversations about just what has happened to our chicks, as well as some clever insights into the life cycle of a chicken.
Building Fairy Houses in the Annie House
This week has seen the Fairy Garden Project in the Annie House continue to come to life through the creation of clay houses and essential ornaments for the garden.
These clay pieces have woven together many different strands of learning. The girls have been required to use their fine motor skills to bring their imaginations to life. Carefully planned, it has bridged the gap between imagination and creation.
Here is a little snapshot into the thinking behind the creations:
I will make a hole so that the fairy can land on the top and they slide down.
I put some windows too.
I will do a big door so that the fairies don’t fight when they are coming in.
I will make a hole for a gem too.
I will put a fairy chair outside so that the fairy can relax.
- Sofia
There is a door over here and a mat out the front. This is the hole where the fairy goes.
This is the window.
- Constance
Here is the window and here is the door. The dots are for the fairies, so they aren’t scared during the night.
- Isabella
This is the top because you can see I made it a little up so that it’s up.
So I will also use the stick to make a little hole for the door. I will also use it to make patterns.
- Lily
We look forward to seeing the direction our girls take us in for the next step in these projects.
