On Tuesday 27 April, former Head of Drama, Roger Masters was delighted to formally award the Roger Masters Drama Fellowship to the 2021 recipient, Tessa Moloney, at our Girl Up Assembly.
Roger Masters taught at Wilderness for nearly 28 years, and the Fellowship funded in his name by an anonymous old scholar commemorates his service to the School and his influence on generations of girls. It enables a Senior School Drama student to broaden her drama education by undertaking a cocurricular course, program, workshop, mentoring, or coaching experience.
Tessa performed in several local musical productions on the Yorke Peninsula before coming to Wilderness as a boarding student, where she continues to expand upon her love for the Performing Arts. She plans to use the Fellowship to fund acting classes with Heesom Casting, one of South Australia’s leading casting agencies, and looks forward to better understanding the fundamentals of screen performance in reaching her dream of a screen acting career.
Congratulations Tessa!

Wilderness Old Scholar Reunion in the Field
While working as a Journalist for Southern Cross Austereo in Port Pirie in March, Shari Hams (2013) crossed paths with another Wildy Old Scholar, Brooke Washusen (2015), who is working as a Law Clerk at Varga Lawyers. Shari shared her experience with us.
Brooke and I are both working hard to kickstart our careers in incredibly tough industries. Brooke is an Adelaide law graduate undertaking research in the Upper Spencer Gulf with the South Australian Law Reform Institute.
The research is to gauge a better understanding of communication gaps in the regional court system, with an aim to help vulnerable community members. The findings will soon be presented to the Attorney-General, Vickie Chapman.
As a Journalist, I was challenged to cover the story for the local 7 Spencer Gulf News bulletin, which required me to script, film, voice, and edit this and other stories.
It was so refreshing to see a familiar face working out in the community.
