It was wonderful to welcome our girls back last week after two weeks away on holiday. It was especially heart-warming to see them so happy to reconnect with their friends for another term of learning.

Firstly, thank you to the families who kindly cared for our chickens, Cheepy and Pickles, over the holidays. We were delighted to see them return looking so well and grown-up! Consequently, they have moved out of the Mamie House and into the chicken coop in the gardens. They are doing very well in their new home and are regularly visited throughout the day by the girls, who are eager to see them playing on their swing and dancing under their colourful chandelier. Yes, these are all features of our chicken coop.

The book ‘Change Starts with Us’ was revisited in the Annie House on Earth Day, Thursday 22 April, to provoke discussion regarding sustainability practices that can be engaged in at home and school. It resulted in a rich conversation as the children put forward suggestions for improvements that we could make at school in our Annie House. This learning will be built upon over the coming weeks.

Friday 23 April in the Mamie House provided another opportunity for the girls to connect with the Wilderness value of Respectful Relationships. Anzac Day is commemorated on 25 April and is one of Australia's most important national commemorative occasions. Anzac Day for us in the ELC is about remembering to be kind and respectful. The girls remind us every day of their competence in building and maintaining respectful relationships. We read the story 'Lest We Forget' to help us understand what Anzac Day means. We also made our very own glue to create poppies that help us remember Anzac Day.

Mother's Day Breakfast

By the time you read this article, the girls will have also completed precious gifts to be shared with you at our Mother’s Day/Special Adult Breakfast on Tuesday 4 May, from 8.00am – 8.30am. Even if Tuesday is not your daughter’s usual day of attendance, you are still most welcome to join us with your daughter for a light breakfast and celebration. Please feel free to send someone in your place should you not be able to attend.
