Last week our Junior, Middle and Senior School students took part in the annual Interhouse Cross Country. We were pleased to have parents on-site to cheer their daughters on once again following last year.

A highlight of the day was seeing girls find a way to be involved regardless of their running ability. Congratulations to all our girls who participated, whether it was assisting staff with recording placings, cheering on their House, working with the student Media Team, or walking/running the course to earn points.

The Year 3-6 Cross Country took place first, with the girls completing two laps of the Park 6 fields. Congratulations to our winners and runners up:

Sport Communication

To continue to reduce email traffic, we have endeavoured to create a consistent method of communication for all sport. As such, we will be using Clipboard to provide communication for sport as well as for administration.

Should you require assistance in using and navigating Clipboard, we encourage you to take the time to read our Parent User Guide. Please email The Hive should you require assistance with logging in.

Additional information regarding your daughter’s sport, including fixtures and weekly team sheets, can be found in the SEQTA Engage Portals.

Please note that information will be personalised to suit your daughter’s sports teams. There may be some changes to your personalised Clipboard schedules while team selections are being finalised up until Week 3. We ask that you be mindful and regularly check for updates.

Junior School Sport for Years 3-6 commences this week, and Year 1-2 Sport commences next week.

For any sport queries, please contact your respective Head Coaches or email the Sport Department.

Touch

On the last weekend of Term 1, several of our touch teams played their season Finals at Park 17. It was a strong representation from Wilderness with four of our eight teams playing off for a Grand Final, a testament to the staff, coaches, and girls for their wonderful season so far.

Our Senior A Team came into the Grand Final as favourites winning four from four in the regular season matches. The pressure was on because it all comes down to the 40 minute game to determine the season premiers, regardless of their season success.

From the first to the final siren, the girls played an outstanding match. The girls were dominant over the Pembroke team scoring eight tries to one. A true master class from the Wilderness team and a very deserving win to our girls, which caps off an undefeated Term 1 season. One of the trademark characteristics of this team that has been impressive to observe every time they play is their unwavering support for one and other. No one is blamed, and the girls are always quick to respond. When a try is scored against them, they almost always answer straight back to level the score. Congratulations to our Senior A Touch Team Jess Craig, Bella Browning, Jasmine Thirlwell, Eliza Corbin, Teagan Powell (Captain), Tahlia Leathart, Mia Cardone, Charlie Bower, Anelise Roos, Annabel Manifold, Nick Litchfield and Brad Snell (coaches).

Congratulations must also be extended to all our teams on an outstanding Term 1 Touch Season. A special thank you to Ms. Marnie Eddington, our Touch Head Coach, for all her work and organisation to make the season possible.

Wilderness has entered a Year 8/9 and Senior team into the State Touch Knock-out Competition taking place over the next few weeks. We wish all our players and coaches well as they compete against the top schools in the State.

Rhythmic Gymnastics

We have been delighted to hear of Bella Pasin’s (Year 6) success in Rhythmic Gymnastics.

In early April, Bella was named as the Sub Junior South Australian State Rhythmic Gymnastics Champion. Bella has also been named in the South Australian Rhythmic Gymnastics to compete at the National Championships in May!

Congratulations, Bella and we look forward to following your journey to the Nationals.
