National Reconciliation Week 2024 – Now More Than Ever
Reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians. Last year, following her design of the Indigenous Football Guernsey, Myarn Alden (Class of 2023) designed a matching ribbon. This ribbon is available for purchase on Flexischools until the end of Week 5 and can be worn to school during Weeks 4 and 5. The proceeds of the sale of this ribbon will be donated to The Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
The Australian Rules Football game for IGSSAs Indigenous Round will be held on Friday 24 May. We hope to see many girls at the match wearing their ribbons in support of this cause, Reconciliation Week and our Wilderness Teams.
REALISE Core Group 2
The Year 9 girls in Core Group 2 will conclude their REALISE experience tomorrow. They have enjoyed wonderful weather during their time at Crawford and learnt so much. Thank you to all the staff who have been part of the experience. The girls completed some water coloured paintings of gum leaves when Ms Kari Doyle visited the girls in the second week of their experience. A few examples can be seen in a photo below.
Challenge Success-Stanford Survey of Adolescent School Experiences
At Wilderness School, we are dedicated to the wellbeing of our girls and strive to provide a premium-standard learning offering to champion our mission to enable each girl to be the best she can be throughout her.
We are committed to providing contemporary academic, physical, social, and psychological resources to support and nurture our girls in facing challenges, enabling them to learn and lead effectively as adventurous, courageous, responsible, and respectful young women.
In alignment with this commitment, we have partnered with the International Coalition of Girls’ Schools (ICGS) and Stanford University for the Challenge Success-Stanford Survey of Adolescent School Experiences.
This annual online survey, conducted by Challenge Success, will be administered to our Middle School girls in Week 5 of Term 2.
Through this collaboration, we aim to gain insights into our girls’ experiences concerning their studies, wellbeing, engagement, and sense of belonging. This data will empower us to make informed decisions about our various offerings, ensuring that we continue to innovate and lead in girls’ education through providing effective support to our girls.
Should you have any questions or require further information about this initiative, please feel free to reach out to Mr. Andrew Mittiga, Student Wellbeing Coordinator (Years 7 – 12), at amittiga@wilderness.com.au.
