Celebrating National Boarders Week
Last week, we celebrated National Boarders Week through a range of small activities and initiatives, including the sharing of Wildy Boarder cookies and a Boarders Week Raffle that was drawn on Monday night. Boarders Week is a wonderful time for us to appreciate the diversity of our boarding community—including parents, students and staff.
Who is Coming to Dinner?
Over the past week, we welcomed Mr Brad and Mrs Kate Snell, Dr Rhiannon Giles, Mr Matthew D’Aloisio and Miss Billie Newton to dinner for our first week of ‘Who is Coming to Dinner?’. It was wonderful for our girls to interact with these teachers in a relaxed and casual fashion. This week, we were joined by Ms April Bickley, Ms Chris Lanthois, Mr Andrew Mittiga, Ms Sarah Wheeler and Mr Tobia Trentin.
Events
Following the initiative of our girls, Wildy will host the first Interschool Social for senior boarders in Term 3. We have received pleasing interest from boarding schools across Adelaide for this event, scheduled for Friday 5 August. We will set up a committee of girls to assist with the organisation and planning of the event.
I know that our girls are very excited about the prospect of interschool events returning, and I applaud them for taking the initiative to move this idea forward.
This weekend, we look forward to our first event of the year. Our girls and St Peter’s Boys will gather together for a Mini Golf event on Friday 27 May.
Other upcoming events include:
- Friday 3 June at 6.30pm: Girls ice skating with Wilderness and other girls’ schools
- Friday 4 June at 6.30pm: Thunderbirds netball game
- Friday 17 June at 7.00pm: Karaoke at Seymour College.
We encourage girls to sign up to these events with other schools, and embrace the opportunity to socialise with students from other boarding schools in Adelaide.
Bliss Ball Making
Over the weekend, a few girls helped to make some yummy and healthy bliss balls, which were very popular and nut free. We hope to have bliss balls as a regular feature of our evening suppers.
