Exeat Weekend
Last week, the Year 3s went to the Migration Museum as part of our HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences) learning this semester. We were split into two groups. In 3R, one group went with Elizabeth and the other went with David, while for the girls in 3M, one group went with Deidre and again one went with David. We learned about lots of interesting things such as:
- The stolen generation and how the white people stole the Aboriginal children from their families
- Aboriginal artists’ paintings and what stories they tell
- How the white people came and took their land
- How they made Aboriginal people learn English and forced them to learn a new language, while the white people didn’t learn the Aboriginal language
- What they used to eat
- What the Aboriginal people used to wear when they were forced to go to school
- Aboriginal string games, such as The Big Lizard.
We had a great time and enjoyed learning about all these different things.
