In the past few weeks, I have seen reflected in the school activities, the desire that we have for our girls to involve themselves in rich and diverse learning experiences.

Old Scholar Heather Bonnin (McDonald), who graduated in 1945, reflected in the Old Scholars’ Always True publication that the Misses Brown were “reachers out—they were people who wanted you to try things”.

Still today, we ensure that there are wide ranging opportunities for each of our girls to explore, in order to discover what it is that they truly love.

Within the Creative Industries, our partnerships and recent ‘resident programs’ with visual artists and musicians have enabled girls to not only develop mastery, but to also work alongside professionals, sharing their own artistic journey.

These unique opportunities have resulted in our girls taking to the stage at the Chamber Concert and Jazz at The Gov, two truly enjoyable performances.

I must thank our Creative Industries team for their commitment to delivering a diverse and dynamic curriculum, as well as performance opportunities that see our girls step out of their comfort zone and rise to the occasion.

Sport has been another area of enthusiastic participation and outstanding results for our girls. Our swimmers and Touch Football players in particular, have had incredible wins and we were so proud of our Senior A footballers who took to the field for a Reconciliation Week football match in a special guernsey designed by Myarn Alden (Year 11).

Perhaps the most telling confirmation that our history of ‘trying things’ continues today, is reflected in the Adventure Week organised by the Year 12 SRC. Inclusive of staff and girls from across the entire school, the week of lunch time obstacle courses, puzzles, games and treats enabled relationships to flourish.

I do hope that your long weekend is time that you are able to spend with your family and that it is also filled with adventure and an opportunity to try something new.

Parking and Road Safety Reminder

We ask parents to please be conscious of the marked parking zones on Hawkers Road and to avoid parking over and obstructing the driveways of the School’s neighbours. We also ask that you take care driving in the school vicinity for the safety of our community.

eSafety Resources

I thoroughly recommend for all parents to explore www.esafety.gov.au.

The site is full of great information about online harm, safety and education, which is applicable to many different ages.

The material is shared in a variety of formats—such as infographics, videos and articles—about topics such as cyberbullying, adult cyber abuse, image-based abuse and illegal and restricted online content.

In an ever-developing digital landscape, there is always more we can learn about how to protect ourselves and our children online, and this is a great place to start.
