Last Day of Term 2
It has been so wonderful to have parent audiences back for our performances this year. Recently we have enjoyed the Festival of Strings, where we saw the progression of musicians from the Year 2 Strings Program to some very talented soloists, quartets, and orchestras. The Year 8 girls had us captivated in Week 7 with their dramatisation of Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox, and we are all still buzzing from Jazz at the Gov last night, where our girls were able to perform alongside renowned jazz musicians, Ms Jo Lawry and Mr Will Vinson.
Duke of Edinburgh Awards
Our Year 9 girls are well on their way to earning their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Awards. Half of the girls have completed their Adventurous Journey through the REALISE Coorong expedition, and they are now working towards improving their physical recreation and special skills. Through the volunteering component, many of the Year 9 girls will require a Working with Children Check. Please complete this process with your daughter as they turn 14. Click here to learn more about the application process.
Reconciliation Week
Last week the Middle School were able to add their collective voice to calls for reconciliation, and we were so proud to hear Zara Hart from Year 8 speak at the whole school Reconciliation Assembly. It is timely that the Year 9 Artemis classes are exploring ways in which the broader Australian community can support self-determination for Indigenous Australians.
State SAPSASA and SSSSA Cross Country
The rain held off yesterday for the girls who travelled out to Oakbank for the combined State SAPSASA and SSSSA Cross Country competitions. We were so impressed with the girls’ efforts and results and the way in which they encouraged and supported each other on the day. See the full report in the Sport section here.
