Old Scholar Shares Career Advice

On 21 June, the Year 10 Wilderness students had the amazing opportunity to listen to old scholar Bella Chambers.

After graduating in 2014, Bella left for Melbourne University to study architecture before changing to a Bachelor of Arts. This ultimately led her to move to London and start her business 'Social Laundry', which now operates out of Melbourne and helps small businesses with their social media marketing.

Over two lessons, Bella shared her journey and what led her to make different decisions. We were able to gain a better understanding about the impact of social media on businesses and the number of careers opportunities this has created.

This opportunity allowed us to further question what we want to do throughout the rest of our lives and how to make the best decisions for ourselves. Bella talked about the importance of flexibility, adaptability to changing interests and developing an understanding of the ever-evolving world and range of careers.

This discussion allowed us to be more confident in our understanding of the process behind going interstate for university and the broad range of careers that a degree can led to. It was inspiring to see a Wilderness girl running her own company and was an incredible learning opportunity for everyone.
