After a slightly turbulent start to the term, we are grateful to be in a situation where we can resume our sport and recreation programs for girls with some minor adjustments. At times like these, I am sure we can all appreciate how fortunate we are to live in South Australia.

Please ensure you are familiar with the following requirements, as they are in place to ensure we are compliant and prioritise our communities’ safety.

  • All training has recommenced as per usual with the provision that Middle and Senior School girls wear their mask anytime other than while training. Attendance is expected at all sessions. Please email the Sports Department to inform staff of your daughter's absence.
  • All matches are currently cancelled but we expect these restrictions to ease next weekend, with matches expected to return in Week 4.
  • Parents are asked to remain in their cars to collect their daughters from afternoon training. For Junior School sport, the designated supervisor will assist with this process.

Please be reminded that Clipboard is our primary resource for sport administration and communication and all scheduled sessions go ahead as planned unless otherwise communicated. If in doubt, please refer to Clipboard in the first instance. Season draws and other relevant information can be found on the SEQTA Engage Portal sports pages.

Intercol Week 4

Our hotly anticipated Winter Intercol Round against Seymour is just over a week away. Traditionally, this has been an important round to show our strength.

With the current restrictions in place, no spectators will likely be able to attend. However, we are investigating possible ways to virtually share the occasion with you if required. Further information will be provided to families following advice from the Government next week.

Sports Day

With our fingers crossed, we hope to be able to hold our Sports Day in Week 6. Middle and Senior School girls will be receiving their event nomination forms today. Please be sure to complete these promptly so we can continue to plan our trials and Sports Day events.

Olympics

We are approaching the halfway mark of the Tokyo Olympics. While it has been a delayed start, it has been so wonderful to view our athletes competing on the world’s biggest stage for many of these sports.

There are so many incredible stories from this Olympics on how our athletes and those around the world have conquered the challenges of the global pandemic. We have seen some incredible surprises and many Australian teams who will be competing for medals over the next week.

In particular, we have been keeping an eye on Wilderness Old Scholar, Molly Goodman (2010), who placed 5th in the Rowing Women’s Eight Final this morning and Georgie Parker (2006) who is commentating the hockey. We are incredibly proud of them both and wish them the best of luck.

Take advantage of the opportunity to witness this incredible event. I hope that we may have some future Olympians among the girls who are thinking about 2032 in Brisbane!
