Year 8 Wellbeing Program

This term Mr Andrew Mittiga is running a Wellbeing Program with the Year 8 students. He has designed the program specifically for Wilderness students. The first two sessions have focused on wellbeing literacy, collecting baseline data and perfectionism. The sessions are held on Thursday mornings and there will be a follow-up activity during Friday Form. We look forward to sharing more details and student perspectives of the program with the community throughout the term.

Year 7 and 8 Athletics Come and Try Afternoon

Thank you to Mr Jon Trovas for organising the Come and Try Athletics afternoon in Week 1. It gave all Year 7 and 8 girls an opportunity to learn how to safely compete in a number of field events before they are asked to nominate for the upcoming Athletics Carnival. Thank you to the members of staff who supervised and helped run the afternoon.

Australian Mathematics Competition

A number of girls in the Middle School competed in the annual Australian Mathematics Competition this week. We hope that all the girls who chose to participate enjoyed the opportunity to put their problem-solving skills to the test. This year the test was completed online, a format that students are growing increasingly familiar with. The days of colouring in dots with a B or 2B lead pencil are a thing of the past, just like the former name of the competition (the Westpac Maths Competition). Thank you to Ms Emma Wiggins, Acting Head of Mathematics for organising the event and to the supervising staff.

Amaryllis Day – AMY ABBA

Congratulations to the Amaryllis House Captains, Tulip Burns and Amelie Rawes-Ryan (Year 12), and Head of House, Miss Elyse Purkis, on a hugely successful Amy Day today. The souvlaki packs for lunch were very popular with our Middle School students, as were the photobooth and cake stall. All proceeds from today will support the work of Wilderness in Nepal.
