Welcome back to Term 3. We hope everyone feels refreshed and excited to re-engage with their winter sports in the Middle and Senior School and begin their new selections in the Junior School.
We have lots to look forward to this term, including several carnivals and a final series for our Middle and Senior School teams playing for premierships from Week 7 onwards.
SAUCNA Junior Netball Carnival
During the holiday break, Wilderness entered a team to compete in the SAUCNA (South Australian United Churches Netball Association) Netball Carnival at ANZAC Highway in the U15 category against a mix of club and school teams.
The girls played seven matches in a modified round robin format. It was a significant challenge to back up each game with tight turnarounds, keep focused and perform at a high level, but an excellent way for the girls to test themselves and learn.
Our girls performed exceptionally well by winning six of their seven matches, tying for first in wins but finishing second overall on the win-loss percentage.
Thank you to Ms Tracy Frith, our Netball Coordinator, and Ms Sonia Clarke, our Senior AB Coach, for organising this new opportunity for our girls. I would also like to thank Lulu Detmold Cox (Year 10) for mentoring and umpiring each match to allow our team to compete.
School Sport SA Diving Success
Congratulations to Isla Balestrin (Year 6) and Layla Balestrin (Year 8) on their success at the School Sport SA Diving Championships.
Isla and Layla both placed 3rd, winning a bronze medal in their respective girls springboard events. Isla and her partner also finished 1st in the 10-12 Years Synchronised Springboard event.
Congratulations girls on your outstanding results!
SSA AFL Championships
Congratulations to Caitlin Hardin (Year 8), who recently competed at the School Sport Australia Championships in the SA 15 years and under girls AFL team in Lavington, NSW from Saturday 23 to Saturday 30 July. The team finished in equal second place with the WA team. Well done, Caitlin!
Middle and Senior School Interhouse Swimming Carnival
Tuesday 9 August, Week 3
We are excited to finally hold our 2022 Middle and Senior School Interhouse Swimming Carnival next week on Tuesday 9 August. With restrictions reduced, we are delighted to welcome parents and caregivers to spectate.
Please note it will be mandatory for all girls to wear a mask when travelling on the bus to and from the carnival. It is also strongly recommended that all staff, parents and spectators wear a mask when indoors.
