I hope that your winter break was filled with plenty of quality time with your loved ones and everyone is feeling refreshed returning to Term 3.
As we welcome back the girls, I’d like to also take this time to introduce our new staff this semester. Should you cross their paths, please make Mr Fred Notman- teaching PE and Business, Miss Francesca Dieu- teaching French, Ms Mei Yeow- teaching Chinese, Mr Stephen Orr- teaching English and Mr Wes Parker- teaching Science, feel at home here at Wilderness.
Over the holidays Mrs Carolyn Matthews started in her new role as Head of Boarding. Carolyn brings extensive leadership and boarding experience, having previously served as Head and Deputy Head of Boarding interstate. She will undoubtedly be jumping into the deep end, as we are soon to be enjoying the annual Boarder’s Fashion Parade. This special event is always a highlight in the calendar. Not only does it connect the participants with industry partners, but it’s an opportunity for the girls to build their own confidence and self-efficacy in a new and exciting arena.
Self-efficacy is such an important value for us to support our girls to develop. In the past few weeks, we have seen this play out in a variety of activities, including those who have been performing and representing the school on the European Music Tour, those finding strength to complete the Jatbula Trek and the Senior Open Girls Football team who played in the Statewide Semi Final.
As we are truly in the depths of winter now, our girls’ health and wellbeing must be kept forefront of mind. Please ensure the girls are arriving in the appropriate winter uniform to keep warm and, most importantly, if they are unwell, have them stay home. Rest and recovery should be a priority to guarantee their safety and that of others in the school community.
I look forward to seeing the girls continue to grow in their sense of self through second half of this year.
As always, a reminder to be extra mindful of road safety as we return to campus to keep all of us safe.
Belinda Arnfield,
Principal
Please note, there will be an early closure of the Uniform Shop on Wednesday 31 July (Term 3 Week 2), closing at 4:30pm.
