Last Day of Term 3
The seaside town of Robe was chosen to host the 2021 Boarders' Parents' weekend on Friday 27 August through to Sunday 29 August. A huge thank you to the South East parents for all their hard work in arranging the various venues and activities. In particular, a special thank you to Annabel Hawkins and Jane Ellis. After all her organisational efforts, it was such a shame that Annabel and Tim weren't able to join us, as the border bubble didn’t stretch as far as Robe.
The weekend kicked off with a 'Samosa and Sparkling' night at the Robe Bowling Club, which offered beautiful ocean views and space for people to mingle before moving on to dinner at the Caledonian Hotel. The wines showcased on the night were supplied by a small, family-owned business, Woodsoak Winery.
On Saturday morning we visited local businesses including Robe Town Brewery and Mike's Beef Jerkey before heading to Cape Jaffa Winery for a tasting experience and grazing platters.
Dinner provided a great opportunity to commence our fundraising efforts for the Badhure Boarding House in Nepal. With the cancellation of the Boarders’ Fashion Parade, one of the auction items was auctioned on the night and raised $1000.
There was no shortage of conversation over the weekend as old friends reconnected and new friendships were formed. Some parents even realised their paths had crossed many years before! Having these opportunities to build our sense of community is so important and the support parents can provide each other cannot be understated.
Online Auction
The goods that were donated for the silent auction at the Boarders’ Fashion Parade are currently listed online with bids coming in strong. All money raised will be donated to the Badhure Boarding House.
There is an array of beautiful items for sale to support a fantastic cause, so we would love you to log on and make some bids here.
SRC Student Leadership Day
The boarding girls are well represented in the 2022 SRC Representatives. The student leaders spent the day last Friday with members of the staff leadership team and staff mentors. The girls interrogated their understanding of leadership and what qualities contribute to good leadership. The workshop provided them with the opportunity to commence their vision for their roles and responsibilities in 2022.
Scuba diving
Scarlett Johns, Ella Bruce, Emily Venning and Stephanie Davidson are undertaking their Open Water Diving Certificate. On the weekend of 28 August, they had a pool dive in preparation for their upcoming Open Water Dive Experience, which they are all looking forward to. The girls are doing this in conjunction with a number of boarders from Prince Alfred College.
Weekend activities
The girls have been enjoying a number of weekend activities. This included the junior boarders having a night out together for dessert and a wellbeing walk challenge. The round-trip walk from Henley to Grange was followed by lunch in Henley Square.
