A supernova is a phenomenon where two stars collide. I like to think that happens in a positive way on a daily basis, here at Wilderness. We also were fortunate to watch it unfold at our Valedictory 2024 celebration, which had the theme of ‘All Stars’. This momentous occasion was marked by our Year 12s coming together with their parents with the breathtaking backdrop of the Adelaide Oval. I’d like to sincerely thank all of those involved in creating a memorable evening. Our girls are all stars, in their unique and individual ways and we encourage them to celebrate these facets of themselves continuously.
The future is also in focus with the new elective launched this year, Futures and Foresights. This course, available to Year 10s, has been designed alongside global industry experts to give students a sense of preparedness for what lies ahead. This significant collaboration was made possible by our interconnected and ambitious network of educators who regularly enable our girls to explore new ways of thinking.
Wilderness has also partnered with several universities across the state to ensure the girls making their Year 12 and subsequently, tertiary education choices, are provided with a breadth of options fit to and inspire their goals. Some girls are certain, from the outset about the direction they wish to take. Whereas others need to explore what ignites their curiosity.
Though our lives can’t ever be fully predicted, I am confident that through their time at Wilderness our girls are best primed for all the wonderful twists and turns that theirs may hold. Our girls are all stars, and they’re ready to mark their mark.
VALE
It is with great sadness that I share the news of the passing of Bella Bradford (OS ’18), a much loved past student of our school community. Bella, the daughter of Jill, our Assistant Head of Junior School and sister to Ashleigh (OS ’16) has battled rare cancer for the last three years and has been incredibly brave as she shared her personal journey.
As a school community, we will naturally offer our support to Jill and Ashleigh during this incredibly difficult time.
We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
