This term has provided our girls with a return to a more familiar rhythm with the opportunity to restore several Wilderness activities and traditions that 12 months ago were on the verge of being postponed or cancelled. Our parent's return to campus has added to the wealth of these experiences. It has been wonderful to warmly welcome you to attend assemblies and music concerts and join us in celebrating your daughters' milestones and achievements.
This year, we introduced two new curriculum offerings Artemis and Design, Technology and Engineering. Created to ensure our girls leave school with the skills necessary to succeed in the future, these programs have invigorated the way our girls think about current social and political issues while exploring technology's continued advancement.
While still in their infant stage, the enthusiasm and connectedness I see in the girls’ engagement in these new programs highlights the importance of this learning entitlement.
Recent learning experiences have extended beyond our student cohort. Last Friday 19 March, Wilderness School hosted approx. 100 principals and school leaders from across the state for a Leadership Symposium. Exploring what learning leaders think, do and say every day, the occasion allowed for deep reflection about the role of school leaders in creating dynamic and supportive learning environments.
I would like to draw your attention to our 2021 Show Day scheduled for Friday 3 September. Following a change to the Royal Adelaide Show dates, we wish to advise you that the Show Day for students has been rescheduled for Monday 6 September.
Our final week of Term 1 will conclude on Thursday 1 April with The Easter Service for Years 7 to 12 students in the Gymnasium commencing at 12.25pm and concluding at 1.05pm. This will be followed by an early dismissal for all students for the Term 1 and Easter break.
Our Easter Service has been a long-standing tradition at Wilderness School. However, should any parents wish their daughter not to attend on religious grounds, please contact your daughter’s Head of School. The girls will be supervised elsewhere.
Head of Senior School, Mr Ben Manifold
Head of Middle School, Mrs Belinda Arnfield
For parents who require the Out of School Hours Service on Thursday 1 April for their daughter(s), please contact Camp Australia directly to make a booking. This service will be available from 1.05pm to 6.00pm as the Library will be closed.
I wish you all a happy and safe Easter and term break and look forward to the girls returning on Tuesday 20 April, 2021.
