It is hard to believe that we are at the halfway point in the Term, time is certainly flying by very quickly. Our Year 12’s are particularly aware of how limited their time with us is becoming but they are excited about what is to come next.

The last few weeks have been very busy in the boarding house. Life has calmed down a little since the amazing evening that was the Boarders fashion parade. We are still waiting for confirmation about the total amount raised and I will share that with the school community very soon.

Boarders have been busy over the last week and a half with Intercols. Numerous boarders have participated in the various events which make up the competition and some will play in finals this week. We are all hoping for a winning result but most importantly that everyone, whether competing or not, has a great experience at the event.

A number of girls made supportive posters and banners to take to the various activities in support of their friends and to cheer loudly and proudly from the sidelines, boarders supporting each other, is one of the best parts of being involved in a boarding community!

Not only have boarders been busy with sporting commitments, our Middle School students enjoyed the recent social and dancing the night away with both their day and boarding school friends. There have been in house activities to keep girls busy on weekends and to foster those all-important relationships, which are a hallmark of boarding at Wildy.

Two weeks ago I attended the Eyre Peninsula (EP) Field days at Cleve with Ben Manifold. It was a very successful three days where we engaged with Old Scholars (OS), met families and girls who will be joining our community next year and also spoke to numerous families who were looking for a boarding school for their daughters.

The Wilderness reputation is very strong on the EP and families were very positive about all that the School has to offer and the opportunities available in having an education based in Adelaide.

It was lovely to meet old scholars, both older and new. To reinforce the positives of boarding we
met two old scholars who graduated in 1978 but have remained life long friends. We also met some our new OS’s and found out what they have been up to since leaving school. Great to see that many of them have returned to their local communities and are involved in teaching, pharmacy and human resources, to name a few.

Transitioning to our new leadership for 2025 is underway this week. On Monday night we had
speeches from four girls who nominated for the role of House Captain. Each of the speeches
were well considered and outlined each girls view of leadership, what they will bring to the role
and what they will work towards if they are elected to the position for next year.

I look forward to announcing these to the house this week and working with our new Captains but equally with all the Year 12 girls as they lead the house for the next twelve months. It has been a pleasure this term to work with Edwina and Tessa and they are to be congratulated on their leadership over the course of the year.
