As we start to move out of winter, the middle of Term 3 is filled with glimpses of sunshine, blossoms on the trees and a sense that change is coming. Amidst the excitement of Intercol, the final games of winter sport and assessment pieces for Semester 2, we have started looking towards 2025 and the new beginnings that start with spring.
For our Year 10 and 11s, we have been guiding them through their course selections. Girls should have now placed their selections into Edval as the timetable is currently being organised based on these choices. Throughout the information evening, school presentations and the individual counselling sessions, the girls have spent time reflecting on their interests and skills, while mapping their educational journey.
The Year 11s have been presenting their speeches for SRC positions this week. The excitement and enthusiasm for the Year 11s as they approach their final year is contagious. Hearing the girls speak about what leadership means to them, their initiatives and commitment to serve the school is heartwarming and affirming.
Our current Year 12s are busy finalising their final summative assessment pieces – the majority of which are due by the end of term. The October break is a time for examination preparation. For our Year 12s, the end can feel a little far away at this point; by the next edition of Life in the Wilderness it will be just around the corner. Taking time to exercise and sleep is essential. Balance and structured breaks will help the girls to have the energy to finish strongly.

Maths Week
During Week 3, Maths Week was held in the school. The main idea of the week was to celebrate all the different ways we use mathematics in our everyday lives. Girls took part in a variety of activities including a scavenger hunt, board games and puzzles, craft making, a darts competition and a pie making competition. Year 12 girls visited the ELC to run games with the Annies. Around 100 girls also competed in the Australian Maths Competition.
Well done to all that took part.
