The formal celebrations for the Year 12 boarders commenced with the Boarders Last Supper, which marks the last time the boarding community of 2021 will all be present to share an evening meal.

The night was organised by our 2022 leadership group and led by our captains, Jessica Schultz and Safara Moyse. The room looked stunning, the menu selected was a Year 12 favourite, and the mood of the celebration was one of shared friendships and nostalgic melancholy.

The girls enjoyed the opportunity to host their teachers and share their appreciation of the support they have received from them, particularly in their last year.

Year levels are often blurred in the boarding environment, and this was clearly evidenced in the speeches presented to each graduating boarder by a younger boarding friend. Each speech was consistent in expressing the deep connections the girls have built across all ages.

The Last Day of School

The supper waned into the Leavers’ Breakfast on Friday 22 October, the Walk of Honour, and the Year 12 Final Assembly.

There were many tears shed, words of appreciation spoken and clips of some staged fun.

Valedictory Dinner

Congratulations to our Valedictorian boarders. The girls should be deservingly proud of the way they acknowledged their appreciation of Wilderness and their teachers on their last day of school. In return, this respect was reciprocated to them at the 2021 Valedictory Dinner where their hard work and various contributions to the School were acknowledged.

As they will miss the official Speech Night, it was a particularly special night for our international girls as their academic achievements were also acknowledged. Understandably, these girls are excited to be able to finally return home and reconnect with their families or join their older siblings interstate. They will be leaving us at the conclusion of their final exam.

One of the highlights of the evening was the viewing of the 2021 Year 12 Video and the footage of the SRC Executive performing their aerial acrobats as they sky-dived from the plane. They definitely took the 'courage' part of the School values literally and into action!

Parliament House

Our sincere thanks to past parent Mr Peter Treloar, MP for Flinders, for once again hosting the Wilderness SRC leaders at Parliament House last Wednesday evening.

The boarders are well represented in the 2022 leadership group. From the girls’ comments throughout the evening, it was evident that they all appreciated the invitation and were in awe of the architectural features and the ambience of the parliamentary environment.

Deputy Premier, Ms Vicki Chapman, had her office door open and invited the girls in for a brief chat and words of encouragement to ensure the girls believe in their own potential.
