The planning and organising phase of the Fun in the Wilderness Foster Care Program commenced in Term 1 with a group of Year 11 students (both day girls and boarders) as part of our Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. This program is run in conjunction with Anglicare and the support of Wilderness staff. Foster care children between the age of 4 and 13 attend Wilderness once a week for an activities program.

This term the program commenced with a variety of art activities, including making clay pots, painting and decorating photo frames. Some of our future activities will include gymnastics, music and planting seedlings. Our aim is to positively impact the children we provide care for, so they have an enjoyable, familiar place to feel comfortable, excited and supported. In addition to this, the program provides their carers with some respite care. The strong relationships formed within the first two sessions between the girls and the foster children has been so rewarding. This program is definitely a highlight of my week.

We are planning to run the program later in the year with a new group of children. I am looking forward to this as it has already been such a valuable experience.

Boarders' Family Cookbook

Our Wellbeing Leaders, Eliza Corbin and Tessa Moloney, are planning on continuing the Boarders' Family Cookbook. They are currently in the process of collecting a favourite recipe from each family. We look forward to seeing the final result of this wonderful student initiative.

Aerial Yoga

Our girls visited the Adelaide Pilates Studio for Aerial Yoga last weekend. The brilliant photos of all the upside-down fun had says it all! They thoroughly enjoyed this event, and I am sure that this will be on the event calendar again very soon.

Boarders' Fashion Parade

While this event seems some time away, it is fast approaching on Friday 30 July, with considerable preparation already in progress. To assist with the organisation, please contact me via email if you have auction items for this event.

As outlined in the previous newsletter, we are looking to focus on regional packages for our big live auction items. If you have any contacts or would be willing to donate or sponsor the evening while promoting your region, please let me know.
