As we approach International Women’s Day (IWD) on Monday 8 March 2021, the Wilderness School community will continue its long history of celebrating and acknowledging the successes and achievements of women in our local, national and global community. As a proud girls’ school, IWD is an important and valued event in our school year.
The 2021 global IWD theme is # ChooseToChallenge
This year’s calendar of events will enrich the girls’ understanding of the importance of International Women’s Day. Importantly, the girls will have the opportunity to explore how our community can work together to achieve social, economic, cultural and political equality for girls and women around the world.
Throughout the week the girls will participate in a range of activities including:
Monday 1 March
Reception to Year 12 Assembly on IWD, Wilderness Gym.
Friday 5 March
Together with the Alliance of Girls' Schools Australasia (AGSA), Wilderness School will be hosting 250 student leaders from 11 schools across the state for the Adelaide UN Women IWD virtual breakfast. Run by our Student Representative Council, the occasion will provide our guests with an opportunity to network and bond with other girls’ school student leaders.
We ask parents to please use the main entrance on Hawkers Road (Gate 30), Junior School or ELC gates to enter on this day as all other gates will be quite congested with the arrival of guests between 7.00am-8.15am.
Please note, there will be no parking available between Gate 30 and the ELC gate during this time.
We are delighted to be able to provide these opportunities for our girls to celebrate women's achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.
